Fair Play and Sportsmanship

There are a variety of activities to take part in during a session of the Ender Gaming Club, and some of these experiences are competitive in nature. The goal of our club is to create fun social opportunities for kids, so it's important that anyone who participates chooses to conduct themselves in a way that is respectful, fair and does not spoil the experience for others.

Here are some guidelines to help you understand the behavior we expect during competitive activities:

Play Fairly

Certain gameplay strategies, while effective, can create unfair circumstances that make it hard for others to have fun during competitive activities. For that reason, players are not allowed to engage in these behaviors. Here are some example behaviors that should be avoided:

  • Teaming is when, during a free-for-all competitive activity, players ignore the solo nature of the event and work together against others.
  • Targeting is when one or more players repeatedly ignore others and focus on attacking a single person, making it difficult for them to do anything in the game.

Avoid Paid Upgrades

Many competitive activities in Minecraft and Roblox allow players to gain advantages over time as they play and unlock rewards and upgrades, and these are a natural and unavoidable part of the game. Roblox games also, however, typically offer extremely powerful upgrades that can be purchased with Robux. Use of these upgrades can cause a level of imbalance in gameplay that is insurmountable for non-paying players.

We ask that users who have paid upgrades in a Roblox game disable those while playing against other players in Ender Gaming Club servers. Most games offer the ability to unequip or turn off these advantages temporarily, and hosts will request that players do so if there is concern that those advantages are ruining the fairness of the game.

Don't Cheat

Cheating can come in many forms. Any tool or game exploit that gives players an otherwise-unintended advantage would be considered a cheat, and should be avoided.

Here are some examples of cheating methods that are not allowed:

  • X-ray texture packs, which allow players to see through normally-opaque surfaces
  • Auto-clickers, which allow players to click much faster than is typically possible
  • Aimbots, which automatically aim at players for unnatural levels of accuracy

Win/Lose Respectfully

Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. In either case, we expect players to show respect to other competitors. Players who win should not be boastful or use their win as an opportunity to insult others, and players who lose should not have angry outbursts or "ragequit" in response. Above all, remain calm and accept that losing is a normal part of any competitive game.

Take Breaks As Needed

Some players can get overly-invested in competitive activities, and as a result their behavior and responses to game events can affect the experience in a negative way. Players who find themselves becoming emotional during gameplay should take a moment to step away and cool off. If a host believes you are reaching the point where a break would be appropriate, they may ask you to take one for the benefit of everyone involved, and we recommend following any such recommendations.
